Dress Shopping Made Simple

My scarf is keeping my neck cozy, though the kids keep insisting they don’t need to wear coats yet — despite the temperatures dipping lower and lower each morning. They wear them, of course, even with stomping feet, and I know that soon we’ll be in the midst of the fall and winter holiday season.

Our past few New Year’s Eves have looked similar. Kids in pajamas, wondering what all the fuss is about. A game of Apples to Apples, fueled by cocktails and laughter. Televised countdowns competing with impromptu dance parties and the knowledge that the kids wouldn’t sleep in all that much, even on New Year’s Day.

We’ve been spending a long New Year’s weekend with friends and kids and shared meals for three years, and our New Year’s attire hasn’t been all that exciting. But this year, with new houses bought for some of us and major vacations scheduled for others, we’re keeping the celebration closer to home. Discussions have ranged from dinner to dancing to fabulous all-in-one packages at one of the local hotels.

All will involve a dress, and with Christmas shopping around the corner, the thought of finding something to wear can be overwhelming. Dress First has an answer for that.

The website is the perfect website for anyone who needs a dress, but it’s even more perfect for anyone who prefers to pull together an outfit from one place.

The amount of dresses they have is amazing, but their search options make it fun to browse, instead of overwhelming. I found something I loved in every category I explored.

Navy is one of my favorite colors for a cocktail dress. It’s a little different than the classic black, and it adds a bit of warmth to a formal occasion. This sheath dress with one shoulder boasts a spectacular back, and it comes in a variety of colors.

While browsing through the lace section, I saw this and think it’s whimsical and fun. Dancing around in feathers is something you can’t always do — well, Abbey might disagree with that — but New Year’s is the perfect occasion to wear something just a little outside of your comfort zone.

The best part about a simple dress? Accessorizing! Adding sparkle with these peep toes is a festive touch, and the covered platform will keep them from being too hard on your feet as you dance in the New Year. If you prefer your bling in jewelry form, this necklace is a beautifully detailed statement piece.
